When I first got the book, I was surprised by the number of pages it had (>1000).
But still, I managed to finish it relatively quickly because the font is big and the content well organized / spaced. I have also ignored a quite a few pages on how to install and configure your environment.
The target audience is without doubt beginners. If you want to learn the Python language, get the book. You won’t be sorry.
If you already know Python 2.6 you can just learn the language changes introduced in 3.0.

The django translation sprint was a clear success. A team of eight sprinters worked on the Django documentation and after an intense training session on the toolchain, we were able complete a sizable part of the API documentation. Our coach, Mathieu Leduc-Hamel, did a great job pinpointing the relevent documents and supporting the team during our moments of struggle with Mercurial and Sphinx.
This is definitely an adventure that we want to revisit. We estimate that with three or four additional sittings, we would be able to reach the complete translation of the documentation.
Thanks to Brasseurs Numériques for hosting the event and Congratulations to the sprint team:

- Julien Desrosiers

Montréal-Python is involved in many activity to promote the growth of a strong community of Pythonistas in Montréal. Among other things, we have the regular meetings, the editing and publishing of videos, the ConFoo conference, and recently, the organization of sprints. In order to better manager these activities and to launch new ones, the Montréal-Python team is looking for new organizers.
A good organizer is probably someone who uses Python frequently but most of all, it’s someone who can communicate effectively in both French and English. If your are interested by the challenge, let us know swiftly because we have several tasks that have to be undertaken if we which to have a meeting in January.
