Bars on St Laurent / The Main

more informations here: link

  • LE DIVAN ORANGE - - Hipster frenchglish place typical of Saint-Laurent boulevard. There is a show on each night. A great Tropical-caribbean party on Saturday night. 30 minutes walking from convention center, 10 minutes cycling, $10/15 taxi. This usually is a party place. Say you come from pycon and get a hug (ok this is a lie)
  • BAR FLY - small place to hang around with locals. Great swing show with a resident swing band on Wednesday nights. Country Jam session on Sunday nights. There is one free pool table. Say you come from pycon and get a slap in your face (ok this is a lie) - Disclaimer: it smells weird inside but you get used to it.

Breweries Downtown

  • Benelux: the official office of the Montréal-Python user group map
  • Brutopia: first brewering in Montréal on a Ringwood system, rumors have it that they are still on the Ringwood yeast

Breweries – further but still worth it

  • Reservoir: the owner is the only National level certified beer judge in Montréal, they have the best food of all the breweries in town but having a full meal there could be prohibitively expensive
  • Dieu du Ciel: some of the best brews in town
  • Broue Pub Brouhaha: this one is a bit of a hike but they have good beer, Salsa dancing nights, and cheesy cinema nights
  • McAuslan: quite a hike but that's the other Ringwood brewery and their stout is featured in Michael Jackson's book of the worlds best beer. It's only interesting if the patio is open so call first.
  • HELM: I've never been impressed by this one but it's quite close to the two iconic Montréal bagel shops so stopping by for a pint is a good way to kill two birds with one stone
  • Station Ho.st: Hopfenstark's degustation place in the village map
  • Brasseur de Montreal: map

Bars – further but still worth it

  • Saint-Elizabeth map
  • Pub Victoria map
  • Le Confessionnal map
